The History

Speaking of famous authors, Margaret Mitchell published only one novel in her lifetime and it happened to be one of the most successful books in history. Gone with the Wind won a Pulitzer Prize in 1937 and the movie is still the top grossing film of all time with revenues adjusted for inflation. Mitchell was quoted as saying she hated writing and only wrote the book out of boredom while recovering from an ankle injury. Since Mitchell was a guest in 1935-1936 in this room, many believe she wrote the book or a portion of it at Rancho de la Osa.
