SPECIAL OFFERS Monsoon Madness - save 15% Cowgirl Camp ___________________________________________________________________ MONSOON MADNESS Located at an elevation of 3600 ft, daytime summer temperatures at Rancho De La Osa are 10o - 20o  cooler than Tucson and Phoenix.   In these months, horseback riding and hiking activities are scheduled for the earlier and latter parts of the day when it is cooler, giving guests the opportunity to take a siesta at the pool or explore nearby villages after lunch without having to miss out on scheduled ranch activities.   Last summer and winter the ranch received the highest rainfall for a number of years and now the desert is coming back to life as the mesquite, cactus and wildflowers sprout new leaves and bloom.   It is doubtful that the summer rains will be as intense this year, however we can guarantee guests spectacular cloud formations and amazing sunsets as the monsoons roll through the Altar Valley.    Around late July, after the first cloudburst of the season, observe how the ocotillo cactus transforms itself into a mass of green leaves almost overnight; listen to the evening soundtrack of the Colorado River toads as they emerge from their underground homes to breed in small rain pools; and admire a variety of hawks and vultures as they glide around the ranch, circling upwards on the warm thermals.
