Situated in the high Sonoran Desert and with access to over 135,000 acres of ride-able land, Rancho De La Osa offers controlled pleasure rides which you will find both unique and exciting - one day you could find yourself riding over rocky uplands and across grassland desert rounding up Longhorn cattle, the next you could be out riding a mountain trail, perhaps taking a picnic lunch with you. 

Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced rider we have a vacation to suit your ability.
 

TRADITIONAL RANCH VACATION

With two scheduled horseback rides per day*, each of approximately two hours in duration, the traditional ranch vacation is suitable for riders of all abilities.  Explore Rancho De La Osa and the surrounding area with our experienced and informative wranglers.

 

*Please note that on holidays our horses get half a day off and we offer either one trail ride or dudeo on these days.


COWGIRL CAMP

Have you ever dreamed of loping through the desert, moving cattle while on horseback, barrel racing and becoming confident and skilled in these activities?  If so, then Cowgirl Camp could be for you.


Cowgirl Camp is more than just horses and riding.  The friendships that you make at Rancho De La Osa will last a lifetime and are one of the best rewards gained from this unique experience … share the pain and agony of the first day and the joy and victory of the last!


Dates: October 10 – 14, 2008 & October 31 - November 4, 2008

Rating:
Suitable for women of all abilities from complete beginner to experienced riders.

Entry Fee: $1200 per person plus sales tax and service charge.  This fee includes accommodation, meals, activities and scheduled airport transfers.

 12 places available at each Camp.

“WRANGLER'S ASSISTANT” GETAWAY

 

Learn about what it takes to be a wrangler both in the corral and out on the range - assist with feeding, grooming, tacking up and general care of the horses as well as helping out on the scheduled horseback trail rides.  Suitable for riders of all abilities - minimum age requirement 14 years.  Please quote "wrangler's assistant" when booking.


“MORE TIME IN THE SADDLE” TWO NIGHT BREAK

 

This two night break offers a faster pace riding experience allowing you to explore deeper into the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.  Includes a two hour ride on the afternoon of arrival, a six hour ride on day two and a two hour ride on the morning of departure.  Suitable for intermediate and experienced riders only.  Please quote "more time in the saddle" when booking.


PRIVATE LESSONS

 

During your stay, let our expert wranglers increase your enjoyment and understanding of the sport of horseback riding.  Suitable for riders of all abilities, private lessons are scheduled not to interfere with your regular daily horseback trail rides.  Cost: $50 per hour.


HORSE CLINICS

 

Our horse clinics teach you about the principles of good horsemanship from the ground through the saddle and are designed to challenge and increase your competency level daily.  Includes two hours of mounted instruction each day together with at least three hours of additional trail riding.  Available on demand and individually designed for your convenience, Rancho De La Osa's horse clinics are suitable for riders of all abilities.

Additional charge for the horse clinic is $100 per day per person plus tax and service.


WHAT TO WEAR

 

We recommend that you wear riding boots for safety and comfort and we have a selection of hats and boots available for guests to use free of charge. 


WEIGHT RESTRICTION

 

For the health and safety of our horses we have a rider weight limitation of 245 pounds for lope rides.  Please note, therefore, that if you weigh more than 245 pounds you will only be able to participate in the walk rides.
